Recipe...

Just for the hell of it...

Bacon Cheeseburger Pie

Necessary:
Cast Iron Skillet
1-2 lbs Ground Beef
1Chopped Onion
2-3 rashers of bacon (minced)
1 small bag of grated Cheddar Cheese
Sandwich-sliced pickles
Seasonings: salt, pepper, sage, chilli powder, garlic powder

For top:
2 cups Bisquick
1 1/2 cups milk
Sesame seeds

Preheat oven to 425ยบ
Brown beef and bacon on stove in the skillet along w. onion. Sprinkle desired amounts of seasoning (taste some of the cooked beef to see if more-less needs to be added)

When meat is cooked, turn off stove and sprinkle on cheese. Carefully arrange pickles on top of mix.
In a mixing bowl, combine bisquick and milk until you have a slightly runny dough. Pour dough over mix. Sprinkle liberally w. sesame seeds.

Put skillet in pre-heated oven and cook for 20-30 minutes until top is brown and a knife comes out cleanly.

Serves 6-8. You can do some artful pattern in ketchup on the top to impress.

Sounds yummy, but bacon, ground beef and cheddar cheese sounds like the trifecta of evil as far as my arteries are concerned. My doctor would hospitalize me instantly if I ate that!

@ Alan This is a rare treat for when we really feel like hamburgers (about once every 2 months). I'm not a griller.

Do you ever create fun artwork on the top in ketchup? If so, you should totally post a photo! :D Man, I love cheeseburger pie! Thanks for posting the recipe! I know what I'm making for dinner next week for sure. :)

I really need to get a cast iron skillet. We got some teeny tiny one as part of those Christmas present gift baskets with hot sauce and a baby cutting board but that just won't due.

I love one pan dishes.
